Prefab sauna

Prefab home sauna cabins built and assembled in Malang

A panel-built cabin that arrives flat and is heated the same evening, for small houses and guesthouses.

A prefab home sauna is a panel cabin cut in our Lowokwaru workshop and bolted together at your address in a day. It suits small houses, premium boarding houses near the campuses, and homestays in Batu that need heat without a building programme. Indicative IDR 15–35 million for a mini unit; assembly takes one to two days.

What is the difference between a prefab and a custom sauna?

Only the process, not the standard. A custom cabin is measured, drawn and cut to your walls, so it can follow an awkward corner or a sloping ceiling. A prefab cabin comes from a set of sizes between 1.2×1.0 m and 2×2 m: the panels are already cut, the heater is already matched to the volume, and the whole thing goes up in a day or two instead of three weeks.

What does not change is the build-up. The same five layers — panel, rockwool, aluminium foil vapour barrier, ventilation gap, cladding — the same aspen or abachi benches, the same 8 mm tempered glass door, the same imported heater with a guard and factory cover. The saving comes out of drawing time and site time, not out of the wall.

The trade is flexibility. If your room has a beam in the wrong place, or you want a full glass front, or you need seating for six, a custom cabin is the better answer. If you have a clear 1.5 by 1.2 metres and want to be using it next week, prefab wins on every count.

Who buys a prefab home sauna in Malang?

Three groups keep coming back. Owners of premium boarding houses and small apartments around Dinoyo, Tlogomas and Suhat, where a compact home sauna is a differentiator in a market of thirty identical listings. Homestay owners in Batu and Karangploso who want the sauna photograph without closing the property for a month. And families in Sukun and Blimbing testing the idea before committing to a full custom build.

Sizes run from a 1.2×1.0 m single-person cabin to a 2×2 m four-person unit. The pinewood models heat in about half an hour; red cedar costs more and smells better. Everything is delivered in panels through a standard doorway, which is why prefab suits upper floors and tight stairwells that a fully built unit could never reach.

Because it is bolted rather than glued, a prefab cabin can be taken apart. Tenants move it; homestay owners relocate it from one property to another. We charge for the move and re-test the electrics at the new address, but the cabin itself does not care.

Does a prefab home sauna fit a 4,400–5,500 VA supply?

Usually, yes. A 3 kW heater suits a single-person cabin and needs around 4,400 VA; a 3.6 kW heater for two people sits comfortably on 5,500 VA; a 6 kW heater for a 2×2 m cabin needs 7,700 VA. Older student housing around Dinoyo often sits at 2,200 VA, and there the cabin will trip the moment a water pump starts — either PLN raises the capacity, at the owner's cost, or the answer is an infrared cabin instead.

We read the meter at the survey rather than trusting the paperwork, because in older boarding houses the recorded and installed capacities frequently differ. The circuit is then run properly: SiHF cable, a dedicated breaker, an ELCB, and a heat test with you before we leave.

Running cost is modest at this size — roughly IDR 200,000–500,000 a month for regular use. Delivery and assembly anywhere in Malang Raya is included in the indicative price; carriage to Pujon or Lawang is quoted at the survey. Compare it against the other builds on the price page.

Frequently asked questions

Can the cabin move house with me?

Yes. It is bolted, not glued, so it comes apart into panels and goes back together at the new address. We charge for the move and re-test the circuit when it lands.

How heavy is it, and will it fit through a bedroom door?

Panels are sized for two people to carry through a standard 80 cm door and up a normal staircase. Nothing needs a crane, a lift or a widened opening.

How is this different from a sauna box sold online?

Single-skin plywood, a foil sticker instead of a vapour barrier and an unbranded heater is what those are. Ours use real insulation, a genuine foil barrier, a ventilation gap and an imported heater with factory cover and spare parts in Indonesia.
