Sauna Malang designs and builds dry saunas, outdoor cabins, prefab units, infrared rooms, steam rooms and ice baths for Malang Raya. Clients are homeowners in Ijen and Araya, guesthouse owners in Batu, gyms and sports clubs. Indicative sauna price: IDR 60–120 million for a custom 2×2 m cabin, IDR 45–90 million for a cold plunge, installed in 2–4 weeks.

What separates a fifteen-year cabin from a three-year one

A wall in five layers

Interior panel, 50 mm rockwool, aluminium foil vapour barrier, a 20 mm ventilation gap, then cladding. Leave out the foil or the gap and the timber will be mouldy by the third rainy season.

Timber chosen by job

Western red cedar, Scandinavian spruce or thermowood on the walls; aspen or abachi benches that never burn the back of a leg; ulin and bengkirai reserved for outdoor decks.

Electricity calculated, not guessed

We read the meter ourselves, size the heater to the volume, and specify SiHF heat-resistant cable, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB on every circuit.

Cold water that stays clear

A ½–1 HP chiller holding 3–15 °C, cartridge filtration with ozone or UV, an insulated cover, a real drain — so the tub is used every day instead of drained and forgotten.

What makes heat and cold work so well in Malang?

Altitude, mostly. Kota Malang sits between 440 and 667 m, so days reach 28 °C but nights fall back to 18–24 °C, and in the dry-season bediding weeks from July to September the thermometer in Sukun and Lowokwaru can touch 15 °C. Climb further and it drops harder: Dau and Karangploso record 10–12 °C on August nights, and Batu, at 700–1,200 m, spends whole afternoons at 16–20 °C. Malang is one of the few Indonesian cities where you genuinely want to be warm before bed, which is why a cabin at 80 °C reads as comfort here rather than as spa décor.

The buildings are unusually varied for one city. Along Jalan Besar Ijen and through Klojen there are colonial houses with four-metre ceilings and 1930s wiring. Araya, Blimbing and Permata Jingga are modern clusters with generous meters. Puncak Tidar has hillside houses on tight plots, Batu and Bumiaji have hundreds of guesthouses competing on the same listing pages, and the student belt around Dinoyo, Tlogomas and Suhat is dense with premium boarding houses and small apartments. One product does not serve all of that, which is why we build six.

Then there is the sporting side, and in Malang it is not a niche. Football clubs and academies recover their players in cold water at 8–18 °C, cyclists ride the Batu and Pujon climbs every weekend, runners train on the Ijen boulevard, and padel courts and twenty-four-hour gyms near the campuses now advertise recovery as part of the membership. Those clients want the pair, not the single unit — heat then cold, used in rotation all day. See how it is arranged in a gym recovery corner or on the ice bath page.

Frequently asked questions

What does a sauna cost in Malang?

Indicative figures: a custom 2×2 m dry cabin IDR 60–120 million, an economy build from IDR 40 million, a prefab unit IDR 15–35 million delivered and assembled, infrared IDR 30–70 million, a turnkey steam room IDR 50–100 million and a chilled plunge IDR 45–90 million. Model-by-model rates are on the price page.

Do you cover Batu, including Bumiaji and Pujon?

Yes, and it is a large part of our work. Cabins travel as panels two people can lift, so narrow guesthouse lanes and steep driveways are workable. Delivery to Pujon is planned around weekend traffic on the Batu road. See the Batu area page.

My house is on 2,200 VA. Is a sauna still possible?

Yes. An infrared cabin draws 1.7–2.4 kW and needs no upgrade. A dry sauna with a 6–9 kW heater does: the supply has to move to 7,700–11,000 VA through PLN's change-of-capacity service, which the owner pays for and which we cost out before quoting.

How long does installation take?

A home sauna is 2–4 weeks on site plus 1–2 weeks of material supply. Infrared is 1–2 days, a prefab cabin one to two days once built, an outdoor cabin or plunge 1–2 weeks, a steam room 3–5 weeks and commercial work 4–8 weeks.

Can you build an ice bath for a club or academy?

That is one of our regular jobs. Clubs want deep tubs, stronger filtration and a chiller that recovers between groups, so we price per tub after seeing the training schedule. Background is in our piece on cold water for athletes.

What is covered by the warranty?

Two years on the structure we build — panels, benches, door, joinery. Heaters and steam generators carry the manufacturer's 1–2 year cover, and we hold Harvia, Sawo and Tylö spares in Indonesia so a failed element is a week's wait, not a season's.
